The funeral will be Saturday, September 18th with a Mass at 9:30 am in the Immaculate Conception Church, 353 Grove St., Worcester. Rita's life was immeasurably rich with friends, none more so than Linda Masterson, Barbara Dunn, and the "Divines" with whom she celebrated so many of life's beautiful moments.Ĭalling hours are Friday, September 17th from 5 pm to 8 pm at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester. Rita then served as Chief of Staff for Massachusetts State Representative Kevin O'Sullivan, for State Senator Robert Bernstein, and until her retirement in 2018 for State Senate President and Majority Leader Harriette Chandler. Rita had an immense passion for public service and bringing the people of Worcester together, which initiated with her work at the Worcester Chamber of Commerce.

Survived by cherished cousins Anthony Katter, Joyce Cooney and husband Timothy, Judy Tedesco and husband Anthony, and Marty Katter, wife of William. Head Jr., stepmother of Jeffrey Head and wife Erika, Kimberly McGhee and husband Richard, Melissa O'Brien and husband Timothy, and Joshua Head and wife Emily. She was the loving mother of sons David Turo and wife Jacqueline and Jay Turo and wife Shelmin, and the joyful grandmother of Jay Jay, Teddy, Jocelyn, and Jackson. Her effervescent smile, joyful laugh, and sweet empathy touched and inspired all the people in her life.ĭevotion to her family and community were the cornerstones of Rita's life. She lived in Worcester most of her life before moving to West Boylston in 2003, and then to Florida in 2018 to be closer to her son David and her young grandchildren.
